Learn about the ancient craft of Japanese temari (embroidered thread balls). Fiber Artist Jen Weber will share information about the history and development of this unusual art, right up to its present-day prevalence both in Japan and around the world. The secrets of what is actually inside these lovely creations will be revealed, as well as what they are used for and how they are made. Temari offer fiber artists a great avenue to explore bold color theory. You'll learn about some of the different geometries and patterns that are unique to this craft. There will be plenty of time for questions, so bring your curiosity and get ready to fall in love with the amazing art of Japanese temari! Supported by the Havre de Grace Friends of HCPL.
