King George III as Liberal Reformer: The Enlightenment and the American Revolution. Join Dr. William B. Allen in conversation with the Honorable Alex M. Allman as they discuss Montesquieu’ ‘The Spirit of the Laws’, A Critical Edition- edited and translated by Dr. Allen. The recently opened Royal Archives show that George III, before he ascended to the crown, also translated “Spirit of the Laws.” Dr. Allen will reflect upon the implications of King George’s translation for the Revolution as well as to compare it with his own translation.
